PREPARING FOR THE NEXT WAVE OF SMART GRID PILOTS

The Smart Utilities ANZ 2012 advisory committee gathered in Melbourne on March 6th.

The 10th Smart Utilities Australia & New Zealand conference & exhibition (Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, November 20-22) will have a clear focus on new technologies and applications to drive the smart grid, delivering truly clear benefits to both the utility and the customer.

Divided into three working groups the Smart Utilities ANZ 2012 advisory committee members advised on key topics and innovative projects to be covered in the areas of smart end-use, smart networks and intelligent water grids. Many utilities in Australia and New Zealand are focusing on new pilot programmes in the field of demand response, load control, energy efficiency, and customer education; however, technology choices are not always clear to utility professionals and many questions still remain unanswered.

  • What can be learned from the fresh results of the recent Victoria AMI roll-out projects
  • How can utilities gain maximum benefits from consumer data analytics
  • What exciting new energy management devices will enter the ANZ market and how does this impact the utility industry
  • How to upgrade utility IT systems to provide consumers with new options for dynamic pricing and usage information
  • How are utilities managing, analysing and using big data
  • How to prepare for EVs and renewables integration and what is the impact on the consumers
  • What are the drivers for the smart water network and what can be learned from the latest smart water trial successes
  • How to make advanced asset management possible

With exciting new formats, a content-rich comprehensive programme and an expected number of 750 utility industry professionals, Smart Utilities ANZ 2012 promises to offer you again a valuable platform to get new insights and explore the latest utility industry developments.

The advisory committee members made an initial selection of the paper proposals based on the abstracts received.  Have a look at the new programme grid. In case you have an interest in presenting a paper or wish to suggest an innovative smart project or application to be presented, please send us your paper proposal as soon as possible

Testimonials

I got a great deal more out of the conference than I expected. In particular, I found the experiences of overseas utilities particularly insightful as to the opportunities and challenges that may face Australia in the near term.

Mark Vincent, Manager Network Investment Strategy, ETSA Utilities, Australia

This was the largest gathering of dedicated Water Utilities I have seen in the region, and the interest displayed in Smart metering shows that the region is strongly progressing towards more Intelligent Water Networks. Well done Synergy!

Gavin Van Tonder, Global Marketing Director for Water & Heat, Itron, USA

From my experience, the organisation of the event was fantastic. Your team have all been incredibly responsive, knowledgeable and helpful – one of the best I’ve worked with (and I’ve been doing this a while).
